ANTI NARCOTICS ROUND-TABLE IN ALMATY
Almaty, November 27, 2009 – The EU-UNDP Border Management in Central Asia (BOMCA) assistance programme hosted an anti narcotics round-table with representatives from the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre (CARICC), the Ministry of Interior of Kazakhstan, the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and international experts.

RESULTS OF THE EU-UNDP ASSISTANCE TO PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF DRUG ADDICTION IN PRISONS
PAVLODAR, 11 November 2009 – A three-day regional conference on the results of a component of the EU-UNDP Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP) - Prevention and Treatment for Drug Addicts in Prisons - ended today.

THE SECOND ATLANTIS REHABILITATION CENTRE FOR DRUG ADDICTED CONVICTS OPENED IN KAZAKHSTAN
ASTANA, 6 November 2009 – On Saturday, 7th November, the EU-UNDP Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP) will hand over to the Penitentiary Committee of the Ministry of Justice of Kazakhstan a refurbished and equipped building of the rehabilitation unit for drug-addict convicts at prison ¹166/10 located near Astana. The total cost of refurbishment works, computers and furniture was about ˆ 37 000.

THE EU HELPED TO REFURBISH REHABILITATION CENTRE FOR DRUG ADDICTS IN KAZAKHSTAN
PAVLODAR, 8 October 2009 – Today, the EU-UNDP Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP) handed over a refurbished and equipped building of the “Atlantis” Rehabilitation Centre for drug addicted convicts in a pilot prison # 162/2 in Pavlodar. Reconstruction works, furniture and computer equipment provided for the Centre is worth over ˆ 99,000.

CHIRCHIK (Uzbekistan), 28 September 2009 – The EU-UNDP Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP) handed over a refurbished building of the “Atlantis” Rehabilitation Centre for drug addict prisoners in a pilot prison # 64/6 to the Uzbek Ministry of Interior today.

EU-UNDP PROJECT HELPS TO REDUCE DRUG ADDICTION IN PRISONS

PAVLODAR, 20 August 2009 – Today the EU-UNDP Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP) handed over four computers and other equipment to the rehabilitation centre for drug addicts at prison N162/2 near Pavlodar. The total cost of the equipment is about ˆ 6000.

DRUG DETECTING EQUIPMENT HANDED OVER TO TOXICOLOGY LABORATORY IN KYRGYZSTAN
Bishkek, 22 July 2009 – The EU-UNDP Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP) handed over two sets of specialised equipment and two refrigerators to the toxicological laboratory under the Forensic Medical Bureau of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health.

DUSHANBE, 20 July 2009 – The EU-UNDP Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP) handed over specialised equipment for the toxicology laboratory under the Forensic Medical Departments of the Tajik Ministry of Health.

TRAINING COURSE ON USE OF DRUG DETECTION EQUIPMENT HELD IN TAJIKISTAN
Dushanbe, June 11, 2009 – Twenty-three representatives from the Tajik Border Troops, the Customs Service and the Drug Control Agency working at six Drug Profiling Units (DPUs), located at railway stations and airports, participated in two specialized training sessions on the use of drug detection equipment. The equipment had been given earlier by the EC-UNDP Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP).
